The ISA was founded founded in 1945 and is a leading, global, nonprofit organization with a membership of over 30,000 in 110 countries. The ISA develops standards, certifies industry professionals, provides educational training, publishes books and technical articles, and hosts the largest conference and exhibition for automation professionals in the Western Hemisphere.
The ISA Lafayette Section was chartered in 1981. Our membership comes primarily from the upstream oil and gas industry. Our instrumentation and controls professionals are known worldwide as the pioneers and experts in the application of technology associated with processes in the oil patch. The Acadiana area is considered the "Center of Excellence" for experienced instrumentation and control system designers, engineers, programmers, project managers and technicians. These individuals, along with service providers and vendors, provide the bulk of our membership.
